A STATEMENT FROM MONTANA ATTORNEY GENERAL MIKE McGRATH:

In this first day after the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. and the crash of a plane near Pittsburgh, there are fears about a diminished supply of gasoline and reports of increased gas prices across Montana.

This office is concerned about these reports and rumors that some vendors may be taking advantage of Montanans during these difficult days.

Today I have directed Department of Justice investigators across Montana to document gas prices around the state. In the next few days, we'll collect this information and relay it to Montana consumers. Following the investigation, we will pursue any legal remedies available.
