HIGHWAY PATROL RECRUITING NEW OFFICERS

HELENA -- The Montana Highway Patrol is currently recruiting for officers who would begin a 14½-week training school next March.

"We are really hoping to see more women and minorities apply for this year's recruit academy," Patrol Col. Bert Obert said. "This year, we are testing in four locations across the state in an effort to encourage and promote opportunities for those who have travel, child care and financial limitations that would hinder their ability to come to Helena to take part in the initial testing."

The Patrol is accepting applications through Oct. 4. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have either a high school diploma or a GED. In addition, they must be U.S. citizens and must be Montana residents at the time they are sworn in as officers. They also must:

Applicants must be willing to accept an assignment in any part of Montana and work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays, as well as unscheduled call-outs.

For an application, contact the nearest Montana Job Service Office or Patrol Headquarters at (406) 444-3259, or visit the Department of Justice Website.
