Lorenz is New State Fire Marshal

HELENA – Allen Lorenz is Montana's new State Fire Marshal. Lorenz has been the state's Acting Fire Marshal for about 18 months. Prior to that, he was a Deputy Fire Marshal for eight years.

Lorenz has attended seven 80-hour courses on fire investigation, fire codes and fire safety and prevention at the National Fire Academy in Emmittsburg, Maryland. He is also certified by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as a handler of accelerant-detection dogs.

For more than 20 years, Lorenz was a volunteer fireman and city/county fire marshal and building inspector for the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department.

Lorenz was the unanimous choice of a selection committee that included representatives of the Montana Association of Fire Chiefs, fire marshals, volunteer firemen and Division of Criminal Investigation staff members.

His annual salary will be $46,000.
