A Statement from Attorney General Mike McGrath on the High Court’s Decision Not to Accept Missouri River Case
HELENA – Montana Attorney General Mike McGrath released the following statement today regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s refusal to accept a case addressing the allocation of Missouri River waters to upstream and downstream states:
I’m really disappointed that the court did not see fit to take up this issue. I hope the Army Corps of Engineers will take a hard look at its management practices and treat all uses equally. The Corps has favored the larger, downstream states for far too long.
Montana had filed a friend-of-the-court brief with the United States Supreme Court in January in support of a petition filed by North Dakota and South Dakota.
