A Statement from Attorney General Mike McGrath on the Reopening of the Bair Home
HELENA – Montana Attorney General Mike McGrath released the following statement today in relation to the announcement that the Charles M. Bair Family Trust Board of Advisors is reopening the Bair Home to the public.
We welcome the Board’s action. Reopening the Bair Home to the public is a step in the right direction. We will, however, continue to seek a full and final resolution to realize the Bair Museum that Alberta Bair intended.
It is the duty of the Montana Attorney General’s Office to supervise charitable trusts. In 2004, McGrath intervened in a case before a Billings district court in an effort to enforce the terms of Alberta Bair’s trust agreement. He recently asked the court to reopen the Bair Museum – with its full art collection on display – under the control of an independent charitable organization.
