Loehr Named Title and Registration Bureau Chief
HELENA – Motor Vehicle Division Administrator Dean Roberts announced today that Joann Loehr is the new chief of the Title and Registration Bureau (TRB) in Deer Lodge.
Loehr started with the TRB in 1989. Most recently, she was the section supervisor for dealer and specialized services. In January she was appointed as the acting bureau chief for the TRB.
“Joann has done an admirable job in a challenging position as acting bureau chief for the TRB,” Roberts said. “Most notably, Joann has led the effort of the implementation of the registration and titling service portion of the MERLIN Project.”
The Montana Enhanced Registration and Licensing Information Network (MERLIN) revolutionizes the way motor vehicle and driver licensing services are provided in Montana, allowing Montanans to do some driver services online. Portions of the MERLIN system will be implemented in November.
Roberts said Loehr will provide leadership and guidance during the transition to the new MERLIN system and develop program policies, objectives and methods to implement bureau programs while ensuring the bureau complies with state and federal laws.
“There are numerous changes being implemented throughout the Motor Vehicle Division,” Loehr said. “I’m excited to be a part of that process.”
Loehr replaces Karin Slaughtner, who retired in 2006. Loehr is married and has three daughters.
“We have a great staff at the TRB,” Loehr said. “I am looking forward to guiding us into the future.”
