Montana Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

AND BE A PART OF SOMETHING GREAT!!!

The annual MT Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics will take place on May 8th (Wednesday) in Helena.  Our leg is from Helena to Boulder (approximately 30 miles) and we are asking YOU to be a part of this great event.

Last year’s group of runners included members of the Helena Police Department, Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol, Attorney General’s Office, Juvenile Probation, DOJ, and Homeland Security.  This year we hope to have returning runners while also recruiting some fresh legs.

Signing up is easy.  Simply go to http://www.firstgiving.com/mtletr/torch-run-2013 and register online by clicking “REGISTER.”  This allows you to get online donations through various social media sites (i.e.: FACEBOOK).  Or you can request a pledge form.

Complete the registration/form and notify Officer Zapata of your intent to participate by April 12th.  You can elect to run/bike/etc 1 or multiple miles.  (Let Officer Zapata know in advance if you prefer an earlier or later mile.  Accommodations will be made if possible.)  And don’t worry- Boulder Hill is already taken care of!

Then collect pledges until the day of the run.  Collecting pledges is done one of two ways (both can be tracked online or via pledge form):

1)         You can simply ask people to donate to this worthwhile cause- in person and online, or;

2)         You can sell Torch Run T-shirts for $12/ea.  (Small to XXXL- Cool Design!)

All monies collected count towards your total pledges.  Collecting $100 minimum guarantees you’ll receive an official Torch Run Runner long sleeve shirt.  Other incentives available as well including a trip to Florida for the International Conference!

 All runners are also encouraged to attend the Circle of Honor during the Special Olympics State Games in Billings on May 15th.  Being a runner for the Torch Run is more than just raising funds and running- It’s an opportunity to be a part of something for the greater good.  Take advantage of this chance to give back and support our SOMT Athletes.  You’ll love the fact that you did and they will love you for it as well!
