To make an appointment, call the Customer Care Center at 1-866-450-8034 or click the START button on the left to use the online service. Online appointment scheduling lets you schedule, view, edit, or cancel an appointment for most driver licensing services at participating locations from the convenience of your computer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Scheduling online also helps you avoid waiting on the phone when Customer Care Center lines are busy.

Driver exam stations are very busy this time of year. To ensure you get the testing date and time that best meet your needs, please make your appointment several weeks prior to your desired timeframe.

These driver exam stations require scheduled appointments for driver licensing services:
Billings, Bozeman, Columbus, Eureka, Glendive, Great Falls, Hardin, Helena, Kalispell, Miles City, Missoula, Red Lodge, Sidney, Superior and Townsend.

The Appointment Scheduling Service is available only to customers who visit participating stations. All other driver exam stations operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Services

Applicants obtaining their first driver license will need to take both knowledge and road tests. Those obtaining a motorcycle endorsement or upgrading their basic license to a commercial license will need to do the same. You must first successfully pass all required knowledge tests before scheduling your road test.

  • Knowledge tests may be scheduled through the online appointment scheduling service.
  • Road tests may be scheduled online once you have passed the required knowledge test(s).

While most services may be scheduled online, all Stage III vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections must be scheduled through the driver licensing regional office. Refer to the VIN Inspections page for regional office contact information.
